Venue: Civil & Naval, Lyttelton
We’re seeking a confident, experienced hospitality professional for a hands-on bar and duty management role, leading from the front to deliver exceptional service.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and support bar and floor staff to ensure smooth service and strong team culture
- Oversee opening/closing procedures, timekeeping, and staff compliance
- Deliver outstanding service, build guest rapport, and drive repeat business
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Manage cash handling, inventory, and daily bar operations
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and alcohol licensing laws
- Work closely with kitchen and FOH for seamless service
About you:
- Minimum 1 year bartending experience
- Current LCQ & Duty Manager Certificate
- Strong knowledge of cocktails, wine, spirits, and food
- Confident leader with excellent communication and attention to detail
- Reliable, professional, and thrives in a fast-paced environment
Evening and weekend availability required. Passion for hospitality essential.

Bar Manager
Venue: Fanny’s, Nelson
Bar Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversee all FOH operations, staff, and overall bar performance, ensuring smooth service and strong profitability
- Train, supervise, and support staff while maintaining high service, health & safety, and company standards
- Deliver excellent customer service, resolve issues professionally, and create a welcoming atmosphere
Operations & Growth:
- Manage inventory, ordering, stock control, and supplier relationships
- Monitor sales, control costs, and drive revenue through strong daily operations
- Maintain systems (POS updates, recipes, procedures) and ensure efficient workflows
- Lead menu development, stay on top of industry trends, and keep offerings fresh
- Plan events and promotions to boost engagement and business
Compliance & Standards:
- Ensure all licensing, legal, and safety requirements are met
- Maintain accurate records, uphold cleanliness, and ensure the venue operates to a high standard at all times

Duty Manager
Venue: The Church Pub, Christchurch
The Church is a multifaceted hospitality operation, combining a wood-fired pizza lead gastro pub, an Emerson’s brewery flagship and a music venue, all within the 150 year old stone walls of the Trinity Congregational Church.
We require an experienced Duty Manager to jump on board and help us continue our success into 2025!
We are looking for hospitality staff that understand the value of showing up and taking responsibility. The venue can fill up within a matter of minutes and we need staff we can rely on to get the job done when it counts. The job requires people able to work late nights and long shifts, while maintaining a smile and a positive attitude.
Requirements:
- 2 + years in a similar role
- A valid LCQ certificate / Duty Managers License
- Strong work ethic
- Teamwork attitude
